After
The War
It was so
quiet
After the war
We stood in silence
And waited for the moment to lighten
When one of us bears the blame
When the time had come
It never came
I was so tired
After the war
But sat for hours
Until the dawn
The sun was rising as I
Lay across our bed
The battles still waging in my head
The dust now
settles
On this battleground
No one gave in
We both ran out of ways
And words to say
To make it alright
And finally just gave up the fight
