New Town
The fire that once inspired me was no longer there
To watch it slowly smolder I no longer could bear
As I drove away, all the reasons I left came clearer and clearer
Still I kept catching myself looking in the rear view mirror
Unpacking boxes, putting books on a shelf
And everyone here reminds me of somebody else
The harder you love the harder you fall
No one loved harder
But enough is enough
I proved that I’m tough
But I am no martyr
The shackles that bound me once have fallen to the ground
Yet ghosts of those I’ve known follow me around
This new town
This new town
